Our Services

New patient appointment

This appointment is for new patients who have not previously attended Springburn Foot Clinic. This session allows us to carry out a comprehensive assessment and take a detailed medical history. During the appointment we will:

  • Review your presenting problem and medical history, including medications and relevant past treatments

  • Perform a full foot and lower limb assessment (skin, nails, biomechanics, circulation, sensation)

  • Discuss the findings and explain any diagnoses in clear, straightforward terms

  • Develop an individualised treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals

  • Provide appropriate treatment during the same visit where possible

Please bring:

  • A list of current medications

  • Any referral letters or recent imaging reports, if available

  • Comfortable clothing that allows access to the lower legs (shorts or loose trousers)

If you have diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, or any specific concerns about wounds or infections, please mention these when booking so we can allocate any additional time or specialist resources required.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible.

Ingrown toenail treatment with or without local anaesthetic

What is an ingrown toenail? An ingrown toenail (onychocryptosis) occurs when the nail edge grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, redness, swelling and sometimes infection. Common causes include tight shoes, improper nail cutting, trauma, nail shape and genetics.

A thorough assessment is carried out to determine severity and the appropriate treatment.

Standard podiatry treatment

Our standard podiatry treatment is designed to keep your feet comfortable, healthy and pain‑free. The appointment includes:

  • Routine nail cutting and reduction to prevent ingrown or thickened nails.

  • Careful removal of hard skin and any corns.

  • Application of a nourishing moisturiser to maintain skin health and elasticity.

During the appointment your registered podiatrist will also:

  • Check for underlying foot concerns such as pressure points, nail problems, signs of infection or early deformity.

  • Provide practical advice on ongoing foot care, including nail maintenance, skin care and suitable footwear.

  • Offer guidance on preventing recurrence of common issues and when to seek further treatment.

Suitable for routine maintenance or for addressing common foot problems before they become painful, this treatment helps preserve mobility and comfort for daily activities. If you have specific concerns—diabetes, circulation issues or persistent pain—please inform reception when booking so we can allocate the appropriate appointment time and practitioner.

Movement and Recovery Session

This assessment focuses on identifying foot, ankle and lower-limb conditions by examining joint function, soft-tissue loading and movement capacity. Rather than relying on static alignment alone, we evaluate how tissues cope with load and stress to understand the likely causes of pain, injury or recurrent symptoms.

What the appointment includes

  • Comprehensive clinical assessment of foot and ankle joint function.

  • Evaluation of muscle strength and flexibility throughout the lower limb.

  • Assessment of relevant soft tissues (tendons, ligaments, fascia) and how they respond to loading.

  • Observation and analysis of movement patterns to identify contributing factors to symptoms.

Treatment and management

  • Individualised rehabilitation programme of exercises to improve strength, capacity and long-term resilience.

  • Consideration of insoles where appropriate, as part of a broader treatment plan rather than a standalone solution.

  • Hands-on treatments when clinically indicated, including soft-tissue techniques, massage or acupuncture to support pain relief and recovery.

  • Clear explanations of findings, personalised advice and a tailored management plan focused on restoring function and preventing recurrence.

Outcome You will leave with a practical, evidence-informed plan designed to reduce pain, improve movement and lower the risk of future problems. The emphasis is on functional recovery and building resilience so you can return to the activities that matter to you.

Medical Pedicure

The ultimate in clinical foot care and pampering. This one-hour treatment combines expert podiatric techniques with a relaxing finish, using Gehwol products throughout.

Treatment includes:

  • Nail cut and file to a healthy, comfortable shape

  • Cosmetic improvement of thickened or discoloured nails using a medical drill

  • Cuticle clearing for neat, tidy nail edges

  • Removal of hard skin with precision scalpel technique, followed by careful buffing for smoothness

  • Removal of any corns present

  • Thorough, relaxing Thai-style foot massage to finish

Suitable for clients seeking both therapeutic foot care and indulgence. Performed by experienced practitioners in a clinical setting to ensure safety, hygiene and visible improvement in appearance and comfort.

Verrucae Treatments

Following an initial consultation we will establish whether treatment is appropriate and, if so, which option is most suitable for your verrucae.

Available treatments

  • Topical acid treatments

    • Salicylic acid: a keratolytic that softens and removes the thickened skin over the verruca, applied in clinic and/or supplied for home use. Often requires regular application over several weeks. Suitable for many superficial verrucae and for patients who prefer a non-invasive approach.

    • Verrutop: a stronger topical acid preparation used in clinic to chemically cauterise the lesion. Typically performed in a series of treatments with assessment of progress between visits.

    • Silver nitrate: a chemical cauterant used to destroy verrucous tissue. Usually applied in clinic and may cause localised staining and temporary discomfort. Appropriate for selected lesions.

  • SWIFT microwave therapy

    • A non-invasive, clinic-based treatment delivering low energy microwave pulses to the verruca. The energy stimulates a local immune response and speeds removal of the lesion.

    • Generally well tolerated with short treatment sessions and little downtime. Suitable for stubborn or recurring verrucae and for patients who have not responded to topical therapies.

What to expect at the consultation

  • Clinical assessment of the lesion(s), including size, location and duration, plus a review of previous treatments and any relevant medical history.

  • Discussion of risks, benefits and likely success rates for each option.

  • Development of a personalised treatment plan, which may include immediate in-clinic treatment, home-applied therapy, or a watch-and-wait approach if spontaneous resolution is likely.

Aftercare and follow-up

  • Advice on wound care, pain relief and activity modification as needed.

  • Arranged follow-up appointments to monitor response and perform additional treatments if required.

  • Guidance on prevention and reducing spread, including footwear and hygiene measures.

If you would like to book an initial consultation or discuss which option might be best for you, contact our clinic reception.
